The purpose of the program is to introduce new drivers to the sport of quarter midget racing by letting them try a quarter midget on our track under controlled conditions. The cars used for the program are current, Club inspected race cars with beginner class engines. These engines develop approximately 3 horsepower, simular to that of a push type lawn mower. All perspective drivers need to wear a long sleeve shirt, long pants, and close toed shoes (sneakers are fine). The Club will provide the cars and all required safety equipment. Prospective drivers must be fit safely into the car. The driver will be belted into the car using both lap and shoulder harness belts. In addition, the driver will use all required safety equipment - helmet, neck brace, and arm restraints. Only one driver is permitted on the track at a time.

The responsble parent or guardian must sign the registration form. At the sign-in table, you will be asked to sign the insurance waver form and pay the insurance fee (unless you pre-paid). If you have already filled out the registration form, please bring it with you since this will speed up the process. You will also need to bring a copy of your child's birth certificate as proof of age for insurance purposes. The program is open to all children, both boys and girls, between the ages of 5 and 16. Quarter midget racing is a family sport, unlike most others, and this is a great way to guage your child's interest in driving a race car, on a real race track, at minimal expense.

Spring 2010 TAQM Summary

Even in terrible weather conditions, we had 33 drivers try out cars for 27 families. Three companies sponsored 6 families for free: Rick’s Atech Automotive, Ken’s Auto Service Center, and Gasoline Alley – WALN Cable FM 92. All drivers received a TAQM certificate of participation. The following 6 drivers won free participation: Reyes Martinez, Tomora Ellis, Rich Uhlendorf, Ellen Dennis, James Ohalloran, and Stephanie Stallard. Congratulations to the winners and thank you to all the participants. Our next try-a-quarter midget day will be Sunday October 3, 2010.
